It has been 60 long years since the first successful climb to the Summit of Mt. Everest (Chomolungma or Peak XV) by Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay on 29 May 1953. The first Indian to summit was Col. Avtar Singh Cheema on 20th May, 1965. Bachendri Pal became the first Indian woman to climb to the summit of Mt. Everest on
23rd May 1984. From then on the list is endless. As I am writing this Blog, there are hundreds of people putting their foot on the summit on this 60th year Anniversary. (which I will discuss in a later post). Let us see some pics of some great people before we take a trip down time....!!

Bachendri Pal on Summit of Mt. Everest in 1984 |
Now as I said earlier, there a tons and tons of people rushing to the peak, the latest news is about an Indian Woman, Arunima Sinha, was first woman to scale Mt. Everest with prosthetic legs. My tribute and salutes to the true mountaineers who go there with respect and climbing spirit. Cheers to them.
